Ding Dong King Kong

Ever wondered who’s on the end of those giant black & white stripy legs, atop of The Duke of York in Brighton? Well wonder no further, its none other than the classic B-movie beast ‘King Kong. Enjoying the sights of Brighton, before taking in a vintage movie.

Everyone knows the classic King Kong story, but in this B-movie painting, I wanted to flip it on its head. For the climatic ending of the original story, King Kong is on top of the Empire State building, with planes over head trying to shoot him down. In this painting King Kong is being welcomed to Brighton. With a hat tip to the LGBTQIA+ community. I wanted people to not fear what they don’t understand (In this case King Kong) but for Brighton to be the mecca where all is welcome, no matter who you want or feel you should be.
