This is the painting I completed on Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year tv series back in 2019 I called it ‘The Headless drummer of Hertsmonceux’ I called it that based on the folklore of the castle, that many of the students who live and study in the halls of residence have claimed to have seen this headless drummer roaming around the building. But that’s not all, apparently there is also a mysterious grey lady that is also seen floating around the castle.
You can see the video of me painting this within my pod in the video below.

Although both ‘The Attack of the Killer Crabs’ painting that I was picked for being on the show & The Headless Drummer of Herstmonceux’ paintings have sold, there are a run of 50 limited edition Killer Crab giclee prints available. 40cm x 30 cm, signed by the artist. Printed on Hahnemuhle textured fine art paper (German etch) 310gsm. Shortly after being on the show, I went back to Herstmonceux and did two more paintings, one of the castle and one of the Observatory. The other painting of Herstmonceux called ‘The Headless Drummer of Herstmonceux II sold, but the other painting I named ‘Being Observed’ is still availble. (see pictures below)
You can see more photos of the day below too.
