Bespoke Superhero Comic Book pet portrait of Tiger, Bobby, Rima, Tom, Gorgeous & Whisper (5 cats & 1 dog).

My client wanted me to paint six of their pets in a comic book style as a surprise gift for her husband who was a comic book fanatic growing up. As I usually do when painting pet portraits, I ask my client a list of questions to get an understanding of the pets I’m painting.

The first cat called Tiger was very flamboyant apparently, so I gave him a Liberace style cloak, to show this side. Bobby fitted his ‘Puss in Boots’ character. Rima would follow Chris his owner around like a shadow, so I thought giving him a phantom mask gave him a mysterious superhero look. Tom was a blind cat so he suited having telekinetic powers. With Gorgeous, apparently a very beautiful attention needing cat, I thought she would suit a 1920’s flapper girl look with a feather bow to complete the look. And finally Whisper, a bit of a naughty cat with an attitude. I couldn’t help but turn him into ‘Dr Evil’ from the ‘Austin Powers’ films.

This painting was painted on 16 x 20 inches sized canvas. This isn’t the usual size I do for these pet portraits. A4 is the standard size, but I’m happy to do in any size. Just ask me before you purchase and I’ll give you a quote.
