Snallygaster

Based on American Folklore of Northern Maryland USA:

Half bird, half lizard, half octopus with tentacles hanging down, massive wings, sharp steel like beak and steel claws. Its supposed to have come from Germany in 1730. They named it the quick ghost which turned into the snallygaster. Has a screech like a train whistle.

Spotted again through the prohibition era in the US 1920s apparently the creature drowned in a vat of moonshine and the shed it was kept in blew up. They’re afraid of 7 sided stars too.

Painted in acrylic on 20cm x 20cm square canvas
